Bedford is 2-8 against Greater Johnstown since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bedford Bisons will look to defend their home court against the Greater Johnstown Trojans at 7:15 p.m. The timing isn't great for Bedford: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home, while Greater Johnstown has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Last Monday, Bedford came up short against Penn Cambria and fell 64-52.
Bedford's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of AJ Koontz, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, and Jacob Wilson who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Koontz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Swaim, who scored nine points along with seven assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Greater Johnstown beat Central 50-45 on Saturday. Given Greater Johnstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Central is ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bedford's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Greater Johnstown, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Bedford took a serious blow against Greater Johnstown in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 78-49. Thankfully for Bedford, Nyerre Collins (who scored 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
