The Warren East Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Muhlenberg County Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Warren East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Warren East is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Barren County just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans.
Warren East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Kaylee Jones was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Muhlenberg County waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory.
Zoey Frodge made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Abry Carver and Ava Carver did most of the damage at the plate: Abry went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ava went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Averie Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Muhlenberg County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Warren East's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Muhlenberg County, their record is now 8-12.
Warren East's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Muhlenberg County, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Warren East continue to outrun the ball?
Warren East came out on top in a nail-biter against Muhlenberg County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
