The Wakefield Bombers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a rough 59-22 loss at the hands of Centre. Wakefield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
When it comes to explaining why Wakefield lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Eli Ponton. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Uken, who scored 3 points.
Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Centre, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Wakefield will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Blue Valley at 7:30 p.m. Centre will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Canton-Galva on December 15th.
