South Bend St. Joseph has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Elkhart Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Bend St. Joseph will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Elkhart is ranked 109th).
Last Thursday, South Bend St. Joseph came up short against Glenn and fell 41-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Bend St. Joseph in their matchups with Glenn: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kayla Woods, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenadie Schrock, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Elkhart waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 49-44 win over Penn.
South Bend St. Joseph's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-13. As for Elkhart, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
South Bend St. Joseph took a serious blow against Elkhart when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 72-31. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point South Bend St. Joseph was down 43-17.
