Tremont is 1-7 against Wheeler since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tremont Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Wheeler Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Tremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
Last Friday, Tremont didn't have too much trouble with Smithville at home as they won 39-22.
Among those leading the charge was Saige Black, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Tremont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara George, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, Wheeler was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 47-41 to Kossuth.
Despite their defeat, Wheeler saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emma Kate Beckham, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Beckham's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alayna Partlow, who scored 11 points.
Tremont is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3-1 record this season. As for Wheeler, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tremont have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wheeler struggles in that department as they've been even better at 37.9 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Tremont might still be hurting after the 46-21 loss they got from Wheeler in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Can Tremont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
