The Bonanza Bengals suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-27 walloping at the hands of Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Bonanza has suffered against Valley since January 27, 2017.
Destiny Haliburton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 24 rebounds for Valley. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Haliburton has scored all season. Laneice Rodgers was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Bonanza and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonanza will challenge Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Legacy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Bonanza likes a good challenge. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Cheyenne at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Cheyenne is ranked 73rd, while Valley is ranked 51st).
