Basketball Recap: North Tampa Christian Academy Skates Past Boyd Christian with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gateway, North Tampa Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 70-38 stomp they got against the Boyd Christian Broncos. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 32 points or more this season.

North Tampa Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jelissa Anderson out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Anderson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Cali Midyett was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

North Tampa Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Boyd Christian had strong showings from Brooke Kesey, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Macie Bush, who posted eight points and nine steals. That was a full 36.8% of Boyd Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

North Tampa Christian Academy moved to 5-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Boyd Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

North Tampa Christian Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Calvary Christian Academy at 6:25 p.m. on Monday. Calvary Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Boyd Christian, they are on the road again on Monday to play Boca Raton at 9:55 a.m. Boyd Christian also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.9 points per game.
