Even though the Monarch Knights scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, the Deerfield Beach Bucks still came out on top. Deerfield Beach narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Monarch 59-57. The win made it back-to-back wins for Deerfield Beach.
Cody Dinnall and Kensey Bewley certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Dinnall scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds, while Bewley scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds. The matchup was Dinnall's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikyle Campbell, who scored 10 points.
Deerfield Beach now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Monarch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deerfield Beach will take on Western at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Deerfield Beach likes a good challenge. As for Monarch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pompano Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Pompano Beach's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
