Peninsula - Ocean recap Oct. 3, 2012
Dylan Anderson of Sequoia ran for the longest rushing play in Peninsula - Ocean this season against Half Moon Bay last week. Anderson's team defeated the Cougars as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 144 in all.
Woodside moved up to 628 from 716 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-6 win over Carlmont.
Menlo's dynamic duo of Jack Heneghan and Peter Bouret proved tough for Mills to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Heneghan threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns and Bouret had 79 yards receiving. Wiley Osborne helped Menlo's passing attack out by catching two balls for 67 yards.
Nick Schultz made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Knights bested the Vikings. The senior pulled down one interception and recorded one fumble.
Mike Taylor was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 157 yards as Sequoia beat Mills.
Mark Newton's team's Heneghan and Connor Stastny have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Peninsula - Ocean in both passing and receiving yards. Heneghan has thrown for 518 yards this season, while Stastny has 12 catches for 297 yards. Anderson from Rob Poulos's team leads the league in rushing with 384 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Woodside takes on the Knights. Josh Bowie's team is currently in third, while Menlo is in second.
The Cherokee extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Half Moon Bay, 28-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the Sequoia.
