The Fort Dorchester Patriots fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 54-47 to the Swamp Foxes. Fort Dorchester has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kai Mack, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and five steals. Mack is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Cailah Tucker was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with two steals.
Ashley Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Johnson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Brown, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Fort Dorchester has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Ashley Ridge, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Fort Dorchester will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Stall is ranked 99th, while the Patriots are ranked 75th). As for Ashley Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. West Ashley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
