Saunders Trades & Tech is 0-3 against Eastchester since March of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will head out to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two weeks ago, Saunders Trades & Tech was able to grind out a solid victory over Scarsdale, taking the game 6-2.
Nailah Searight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.
Meanwhile, Eastchester got the win against Nanuet on Monday by a conclusive 19-4. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sabrina Cosgrove was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Cosgrove was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Eastchester got a massive performance out of Sophia Gutierrez, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five runs gave Gutierrez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Comizio, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Eastchester's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Saunders Trades & Tech, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Saunders Trades & Tech suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Eastchester in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
