After a string of nine wins, the Redlands East Valley Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Beaumont on the road by a decisive 67-50 margin. Redlands East Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Beaumont apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 10th.
Redlands East Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dariel Bahamontes, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Ivens, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Beaumont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Farias, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Payton Joseph, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Redlands East Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8. As for Beaumont, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Redlands East Valley will challenge Citrus Valley at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Citrus Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 715th, while Redlands East Valley is ranked 254th). As for Beaumont, they will head out on the road to take on Redlands at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
