Baseball Recap: Eastwood Has No Trouble Against Genoa Area

Eastwood had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Genoa Area on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kadyn Donnell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Norton, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eastwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Eastwood pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Genoa Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastwood will host Evergreen at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Genoa Area, they will welcome Fostoria at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
