St. Mary's Ryken was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as The Academy of the Holy Cross apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
St. Mary's Ryken lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olu Enajekpo, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaela Fair, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
St. Mary's Ryken has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Ryken will take on St. John's at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Mary's Ryken has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while St. John's will arrive with four straight wins. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Georgetown Day at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Georgetown Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully The Academy of the Holy Cross likes a good challenge.
