Despite the loss, Avalon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jevon Hawkins went 7-for-11 from beyond the arc en route to 45 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hawkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Toran Ayana, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.
Southern Maryland Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron McGlone out in front who went 9-for-16 to rack up 19 points. McGlone's big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Chase Purvis, who made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.
