The Monument Valley Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 65-26 defeat at the hands of Milford. Monument Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
Loss or not, Monument Valley got some senior leadership from Braxton Goodshield who scored ten points and Joshua Hicks who scored nine points. Goodshield scored a full 38.5% of Monument Valley's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Melias Cly, who scored seven points.
Milford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kielen Tsosie out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Tsosie's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Taylor Dotson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Monument Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Milford, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Monument Valley and Manila will face off at 8:30 a.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Manila presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Monument Valley in Utah (Manila is ranked 34th, while Monument Valley is ranked 129th). Milford and Escalante will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Escalante focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
