The Smithsburg Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Francis Scott Key Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Smithsburg is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
In what's become a running theme this season, Smithsburg gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Governor Thomas Johnson 67-28 at home. With Smithsburg ahead 37-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
It was another big night for Skyla Mastronardi, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jill Mallott, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Francis Scott Key was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 49-44 to South Carroll.
Smithsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Francis Scott Key, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-7.
Smithsburg lost to Francis Scott Key on the road by a decisive 53-34 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Smithsburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
