The Gaston Christian Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Lee Park Prep Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Gaston Christian is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Hickory Grove Christian. Gaston Christian walked away with a 10-6 win over Hickory Grove Christian on Tuesday.
Lana Hanson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Hanson was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenedy Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Marleigh Huskins, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lee Park Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Academy on Monday, taking the game 10-5.
Like Gaston Christian, Lee Park Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Ansley Green. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Green was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Alexander was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Lee Park Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Academy only managed six hits.
Gaston Christian came up short against Lee Park Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 8-4. Can Gaston Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
