Having just played yesterday, the Mount Miguel Matadors will jump right back in to play the Valhalla Norsemen at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valhalla took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Miguel, who comes in off a win.
Mount Miguel has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 75-54 margin over Morse. Given Mount Miguel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Morse is ranked 1095th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mount Miguel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasen Hughes, who scored 16 points. Hughes continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thaddeus Boudreaux, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Valhalla's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. Their rough 59-37 defeat to Madison might stick with them for a while.
The win makes it two in a row for Mount Miguel and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Valhalla, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Mount Miguel was taken down by Valhalla 71-32 in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mount Miguel was down 42-16.
