The matchup between Caliche and Sedgwick County wasn't particularly close, with Caliche falling 59-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Caliche in their matchups with Sedgwick County: they've now lost seven in a row.
Ava Hernandez and Karsyn Huss certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hernandez scored 14 points, while Huss scored 11 points.
Leading Sedgwick County to victory were Lainee Nein and Abigail Dille. Nein scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Dille dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nein has scored at least a third of Sedgwick County's points. Olivia Ingram was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Caliche's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Sedgwick County, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Caliche won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Otis at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Otis and Caliche are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Sedgwick County, they will head out on the road to square off against Haxtun at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
