Buna and Kirbyville are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Buna Cougars will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Kirbyville Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Buna has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 52-41 to Orangefield on Tuesday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Raylee Harding, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Sherman, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kirbyville also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to East Chambers by a score of 39-31. Kirbyville has not had much luck with East Chambers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Buna's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Kirbyville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
