Shaker Heights had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Friday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it eight. They were  outmatched by the Mentor Cardinals and fell  49-0. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Cardinals are ranked 13th).
As for Mentor, the  victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.1 points on average this season.
 Mentor's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Justen Hodge, who picked up 162 receiving yards and three  touchdowns. Those  three  receiving touchdowns gave  Hodge a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jackson Farley, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of  TDs on only 12 carries.
