The School Without Walls Penguins will head out on the road to face off against E.L. Haynes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. E.L. Haynes took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on School Without Walls, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, School Without Walls narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Georgetown Day 56-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for School Without Walls.
Chidiire Nwokwu was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 21 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals. Harry Megeath was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, E.L. Haynes came up short against Washington Latin Public Charter School on Saturday and fell 57-45. E.L. Haynes has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, E.L. Haynes had strong showings from Jency Beatriz, who scored 15 points, and Juan Creamer, who scored 14 points. Creamer scored a full 31.1% of E.L. Haynes' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Bruce Jr, who scored 6 points.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-0 season records intact.
School Without Walls was able to grind out a solid win over E.L. Haynes in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 64-56. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was E.L. Haynes' Jasper Hanna, who scored 41 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for School Without Walls to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
