If the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils were riding high off their 61-26 takedown of Horizon Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Indianapolis Shortridge fell 49-40 to University on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Indianapolis Shortridge in their matchups with University: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jocelyn Eskew, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keara Stewart, who scored 13 points.
University was led to victory by Mackenzie Feeney and Charlotte Conyers. Feeney dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Conyers scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Feeney has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anyah Jordan-Turley, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Indianapolis Shortridge's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for University, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Indianapolis Shortridge on the road again on Saturday and play against Anderson Prep Academy at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. Anderson Prep Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. University will take on Bethesda Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Bethesda Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
