The Tocoi Creek Toros will head out to challenge the Bradford Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Tocoi Creek's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Bradford's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Tocoi Creek's victory against Beachside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Toros had just enough and edged out the Barracudas 3-2 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Toros as they're now sitting on three straight.
Hannah Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.
Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Naomi Valcin, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bradford). They walked away with an 11-8 victory over Fort White on Tuesday. The Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like Tocoi Creek, Bradford also got a great game from a two-way player: Kolee Lemire. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Lemire was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bradford got a massive performance out of Kingslee Phillips, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Phillips has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lila Sutton, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Bradford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Tocoi Creek's record is now 6-1. As for Bradford, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Bradford's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Tocoi Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bradford, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Tocoi Creek keep running through batters, or will the Tornadoes buck the trend?
Tocoi Creek couldn't quite get it done against Bradford when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Toros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
