The University Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Huntington Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
University is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 62-14 victory over Parkersburg. With the Hawks ahead 34-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

University's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harrison Helbig, who threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 48 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Helbig a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Hayden George also helped with two scores in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: University was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
University didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Glenn Brown, Kaleil Lewis, and Brandon Custer, who each picked up one interception apiece. Lewis got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Huntington waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 48-14. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Eagles are ranked 82nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
University better keep an eye on Tayveon Wilson. He was instrumental in Huntington's win, rushing for 71 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also throwing for 44 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 5-for-5 passing.
University's record now sits at 8-3. As for Huntington, their record is now 9-2.
University was taken down by Huntington 56-28 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
