New Site is 9-1 against Belmont since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The pair will round out the year against one another at 9:00 a.m. at. New Site knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Belmont likes a good challenge.
New Site scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jumpertown 94-43 at home. The result was nothing new for New Site, who have now won five games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Belmont waltzed into their game Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Phil Campbell with a 46-41 win. Given Belmont's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 151st in Mississippi, while Phil Campbell is ranked 381st in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Belmont found their leader in underclassman Khalil Luster, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The game was Luster's 12th in a row with at least ten points.
New Site's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.1 points per game. As for Belmont, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
New Site came up short against Belmont when the teams last played back in February, falling 52-45. Can New Site avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
