Shanya Mays was her usual excellent self, going 13-for-15 on her way to 30 points and five rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyah Holmes, who posted four points.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Ridge Spring-Monetta on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Pelion with a sharp 56-36 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
Williston-Elko better keep an eye on Ny'Asia Young. She was instrumental in Ridge Spring-Monetta's win, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 22 boards. That's the most points Young has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bri Hendley, who had 11 points.
Ridge Spring-Monetta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Ridge Spring-Monetta now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Williston-Elko, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Williston-Elko has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 71.4% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Ridge Spring-Monetta, though, as they've only made 21.2% of their three-pointers this season. Given Williston-Elko's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
