The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Highland Regional has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Holy Cross will arrive with five straight wins.
Highland Regional pushed their score all the way to 77 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 83-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of Timber Creek Regional. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Highland Regional in their matchups with Timber Creek Regional: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Holy Cross didn't have too much trouble with King's Christian at home on Thursday as they won 65-48. The win was all the more spectacular given Holy Cross' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while King's Christian is ranked 104th).
Highland Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Holy Cross, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
Highland Regional lost to Holy Cross at home by a decisive 68-49 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Thankfully for Highland Regional, Giovanni Cessel (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
