Baseball Game Preview: Bishop O'Connell Knights vs. Archbishop Carroll Lions

Bishop O'Connell has gone a perfect 3-0 against Archbishop Carroll recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bishop O'Connell Knights will host the Archbishop Carroll Lions at 4:00 p.m. Bishop O'Connell will be strutting in after a victory while Archbishop Carroll will be coming in after a defeat.

Bishop O'Connell is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 25, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Our Lady of Good Counsel 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Noah Haught made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Shota Fogus looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Chaz Walker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of James Robinson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Carroll had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 17-0 to Our Lady of Good Counsel on Wednesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Bishop O'Connell took their victory against Archbishop Carroll in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Does Bishop O'Connell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Archbishop Carroll turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
