After flying high against the Durant Lions last Friday, The McAlester Buffaloes came back down to earth. McAlester took a 27-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sapulpa. McAlester lost against Sapulpa in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-27 score last time.
McAlester's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Lesnau, who rushed for 117 yards, and also threw for 78 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Ethan Watkins, who gained 119 total yards and two touchdowns.
McAlester's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Sapulpa, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
McAlester will head out on the road to face off against Glenpool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sapulpa, they will be playing at home against East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
