After flying high against the North Springs Spartans last Tuesday, the Chattahoochee Cougars came back down to earth. Chattahoochee received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 44-28 to Greater Atlanta Christian. Chattahoochee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greater Atlanta Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Chattahoochee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Berninger, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Loren Withrite, who scored 11 points.
Leading Greater Atlanta Christian to victory were Myla Benton and Asia Johnson. Benton scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Johnson scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Lucas, who scored nine points.
Chattahoochee bumped their record down to 14-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Greater Atlanta Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chattahoochee will take on Northview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greater Atlanta Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Springs at 6:00 p.m. North Springs is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
