The Griffith Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the La Porte Slicers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Griffith scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Illiana Christian by a score of 67-54. Given Griffith's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Illiana Christian is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Savon Miles, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for he. Another player making a difference was Cameron Chandler, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Porte struggled with assists on Saturday (South Bend Washington had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. La Porte fell just short of South Bend Washington by a score of 68-65. La Porte has not had much luck with South Bend Washington recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
La Porte might have lost, but man, Nic Spence was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 33 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Spence's third in a row with at least ten points. Griffin Ott-Large was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Griffith's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for La Porte, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Griffith hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60 points per game. However, it's not like La Porte struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 53.4 points per game. The only thing between Griffith and another offensive beatdown is La Porte. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Griffith took a serious blow against La Porte in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 80-49. Will Griffith have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
