The Providence School Stallions will face off against the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Providence School has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
While Providence School's victory against Ponte Vedra wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stallions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Sharks 3-2. The Stallions haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Jaxson Strough spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Evan Snyder was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Preston Ricchini was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Oakleaf.
Jackson Adams put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Carter Terryn made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-8 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Tyler White, who went 2-for-6 with one stolen base and one run.
Atlantic Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Providence School, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Providence School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Providence School came out on top in a nail-biter against Atlantic Coast in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Stingrays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
