Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Silver Creek

Silver Creek proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Monarch Coyotes 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Raptors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Nolan Gaccetta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Silver Creek is 8-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Silver Creek's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nate Spiegel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Silver Creek's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monarch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
