5A Pioneer recap September 4, 2013
Zach Young of Doherty ran for the longest rushing play in 5A Pioneer this season against Liberty last week. Young ran for 82 yards on the play and finished with 233 on the day as his team defeated the Lancers.
Fans got a thrill when Trevor Smeeton and Parker Strahler connected against Brighton. The connection was good for 60 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Peyton Remy put up the best numbers in passing as Legend defeated Prairie View. He finished with 17 completions for 269 yards and 5 touchdowns. Remy's favorite target this week was Cody Dengal, who caught 4 passes for 93 yards.
Brandon Supernaw was the best wideout in the league this week as Doherty beat Liberty. Supernaw racked up 4 receptions for 107 yards. Kyle Carey helped Doherty's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 75 yards.
He went 17-32 with 0 interceptions.
Young was the best running back in 5A Pioneer this week. Tequan Baker also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.
Young was a force in the backfield as David Joyce's team beat Clarence Vaughn's team.
