Softball Recap: Littleton's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Littleton extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 7-10 in the process. Everything went their way against the Ayer Shirley Panthers as they made off with a 25-6 win. That looming 25-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Tyana Killion was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Killion was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Littleton got a massive performance out of Annabelle Caouette, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Caouette a new career-high. Madison Ward was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Littleton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Ayer Shirley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.

On Ayer Shirley's side, Lauren Reardon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Littleton will venture away from home to square off against Clinton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ayer Shirley, they will challenge Lunenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
