The Brownell Talbot Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Gross Catholic Cougars at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Brownell Talbot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Brownell Talbot took their game at home with ease, bagging a 45-4 win over Whiting. With Brownell Talbot ahead 34-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brownell Talbot can attribute much of their success to Abbi Gibbs, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Avery Nichols, who scored 25 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Nichols has scored at least 25% of Brownell Talbot's points. Another player making a difference was Nya Ping, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Gross Catholic had to suffer through a rough 58-28 loss at the hands of Grand Island Central Catholic. Gross Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
The losses dropped Brownell Talbot to 1-1 and Whiting to 0-4.
