The Mendenhall Tigers came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Forest with points to spare, taking the game 48-30. Given Mendenhall's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Forest is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Montavis Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Tyler Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Mendenhall's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Forest, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendenhall will take on Newton at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Forest, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Morton at 7:30 p.m. Morton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 171 points over their last three matches.
