Porter is 3-0 against Canadian since October of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Porter Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Canadian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Porter pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 57-42 bruising from Talihina. Despite 64 more yards than Talihina, Porter couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Porter's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey'von Shine, who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and Bradyn Israel who threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Mikas Conard was another key contributor, gaining 100 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Canadian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Haskell at home and fell 43-6.
Porter's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18 points per game. As for Canadian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1.
Everything came up roses for Porter against Canadian when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-18 win. Does Porter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canadian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
