Softball Recap: Bountiful Beats Roy for Their Third Straight Win

Bountiful came out on top against Roy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fourth inning. The RedHawks never let the Royals get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Dylan Carpenter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Abigail Orme and Claire Yates did most of the damage at the plate: Orme went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Yates went 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that Orme has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Howe, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

The win (which was Bountiful's third in a row) raised their record to 20-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Roy, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Looking ahead, Bountiful will host Layton at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the RedHawks' favor as the team sits on 16 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Lancers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Roy, they will venture away from home to face off against Viewmont at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight.
