AAA Region 6 recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Woodward Academy, who took down 96th ranked Woodward Academy, 21-14. Spencer McManes threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 27 yards in the win.
McManes and Sam Roberts provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the War Eagles. The longest such play in AAA Region 6 this season, the connection resulted in 57 yards.
Blessed Trinity's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Milton Shelton chipped in 71 yards. Robert McQuaid helped Blessed Trinity's passing attack out by catching one ball for 33 yards.
Roberts was the best wideout in the league this week as the Titans topped Woodward Academy. Roberts tallied four receptions for 141 yards.
Thanks to the talents of McManes and Shelton Blessed Trinity has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. McManes leads the league in passing with 509 yards, while Shelton has rushed for 431 yards this season. McNair's Mike Minter leads the league in receiving yards with 302 on eight catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Mustangs take on St. Pius X Catholic. McNair is in third place, while the Golden Lions are in first place.
The Titans moved up to 79 from 110 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA Region 6. Blessed Trinity was able to make the jump by beating Ryan Davis's team 21-14.
