The Cary Imps will be home for the holidays to greet the Northwest Halifax Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cary beat Apex 33-26. The victory was just what Cary needed coming off of a 81-49 defeat in their prior contest.
Cary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyndall Brewington led the charge by scoring ten points along with six steals. The game was Brewington's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luci Augustson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Northwest Halifax put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Wilson Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-34 win at home. Northwest Halifax's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Camaya Adkins, who scored 35 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Northwest Halifax's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyara Rook, who scored ten points.
Cary's win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Northwest Halifax, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Cary have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.4 threes per game. It's a different story for Northwest Halifax, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 threes per game.
