Westgate has gone a perfect 4-0 against West St. Mary recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolfpack at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Westgate's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Mentorship Academy as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant win of the season so far.
CAINE HYDE made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. HYDE was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on RAHIM ALEM, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was ARYO FLEMING, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Westgate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, West St. Mary had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Jeanerette with a sharp 16-3 victory last Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Dru Martin was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Thomas, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Westgate now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West St. Mary, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
