The Shadle Park Highlanders will head out to challenge the Ridgeline Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shadle Park is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Shadle Park managed to slip by Lewis & Clark the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Highlanders came up short against the Tigers on Tuesday, falling 18-9.
Annabelle Moreno made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bethany Rinas, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Ridgeline never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Gonzaga Prep last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bullpups with a sharp 24-1 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Gianna Haiar was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilley Triplett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Ridgeline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Ridgeline has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Shadle Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Shadle Park hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ridgeline struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Shadle Park couldn't quite get it done against Ridgeline in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 16-12. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
