Mikka Jones of Monarch High School in Louisville, Colo., has been named as the first-ever NFCA High School Player of the Week for games played between Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, 2010, the Association announced on Monday.
Jones went 8-for-10 over three games for the Coyotes with 11 RBIs, four doubles, four triples and four runs, as she helped pace her team to a 2-1 week. She ended the week with a .800 batting average, a 0.818 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of 2.000.
For the season, Jones is hitting .574 with 22 RBIs, 11 extra base hits and 13 walks for an on-base percentage of .672 and a slugging percentage of 0.894.
The NFCA High School Player of the Week award will be given out each week during the fall to the top player nationally from schools that are playing in their regular season of competition. During the spring, the NFCA will present the award to the top player in each of its five regions on a weekly basis.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award. The NFCA High School Player of the Week will be announced by the Association on
www.nfca.org every Monday during the fall and spring seasons.
