After a string of three wins, the Andrews Yellowjackets's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Cane Bay on the road and fell 70-43. While losing is never fun, Andrews can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Cane Bay is ranked 26th).
Andrews' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aarin Moore, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals. Moore continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Dayevon McNair was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 7 rebounds.
Andrews struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cane Bay racked up 11.
Cane Bay's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Smalls, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Ebersole, who scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Andrews' defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Cane Bay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrews will face off against Georgetown at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Cane Bay, they will head out on the road to face off against Pinewood Prep at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
