Springfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Coventry Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Coventry is ranked 89th).
Last Sunday, it was close, but Springfield sidestepped Ellet for a 51-48 win.
Springfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Ahern out in front who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Ahern set a new season high mark in rebounds with five. Another player making a difference was Jacob Thomas, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, everything went Coventry's way against Medina Christian Academy on Saturday as Coventry made off with a 67-43 win.
Coventry's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Keenan, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keenan has scored all season. Alex Meinen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The win got Springfield back to even at 2-2. As for Coventry, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Springfield came up short against Coventry in their previous matchup back in February, falling 46-37. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
