Despite the defeat, Santa Fe Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Skyler Brown scored two points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Santa Fe Catholic struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lakeland Christian found their leader in underclassman Issa Simpson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simpson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Eleni Katzaras, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Santa Fe Catholic's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Lakeland Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Santa Fe Catholic will be playing at home against Victory Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Victory Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Academy at the Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
