The Bayard Tigers can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They blew past Kimball 56-19 at home. Given Bayard's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Kimball is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bayard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joslyn Shay hopkins, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Harter, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Kimball struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bayard is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Kimball, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.
Bayard won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gordon-Rushville at 3:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Bayard is coming into the game with four straight wins on the road, so Gordon-Rushville is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Kimball, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hemingford at 11:00 a.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Kimball focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Thursday.
